Poodle Bath & Grooming

Bath Time & Other Adventures

"I wonder if other dogs think poodles are members of a weird religious cult." Rita Rudner, comedian

At Elite Family Poodle, grooming is more than maintenance — it’s part of raising confident, healthy, beautifully presented Toy Poodles.

During their first weeks, mama dog provides all the care and comfort her babies need. Once their eyes open, we begin introducing gentle handling and early grooming routines — soft brushes, warm hands, and calm voices.

Our goal is simple: puppies who love being cared for.

From tiny paw trims to playful “spa days,” we make every experience positive and soothing. Baths come with kisses and treats, never fear or stress.

We believe that grooming should always feel like bonding. When families continue this same gentle approach at home, their dogs grow up seeing grooming not as something to endure — but as something to enjoy.

That’s how we raise puppies who stay calm, happy, and beautifully groomed for life.

🌸 Daily Care

🪮Daily Brushing

Every day — short, gentle sessions.

A Toy Poodle’s coat is beautiful, but it requires daily care to stay healthy and mat‑free.

Short, calm brushing sessions each day prevent tangles, keep the coat fluffy, and help your puppy enjoy being handled.

How to brush:

  • Start with a slicker brush to lift and separate the coat

  • Follow with a metal comb to check for hidden knots

  • Focus on friction areas: behind ears, under collar, armpits, inner thighs

  • Keep sessions positive — praise, treats, and a calm voice

Daily brushing also strengthens your bond and keeps grooming stress‑free for life.

👁️ Daily Eye Care

Every day — gentle, quick, essential.

Toy Poodles have expressive eyes, but they also produce natural tear staining.

Daily eye care keeps the face clean, prevents irritation, and helps your puppy stay comfortable.

Your routine:

  • Use the eye drops we recommend (pictured in our gallery)

  • Apply gently and wipe with a soft cloth or cotton pad

  • Keep the area clean and dry

  • This daily ritual prevents staining and teaches your puppy to enjoy calm face handling

A clean face is not just cosmetic — it’s part of your puppy’s comfort and health.

🪒Full Grooming

Every 4 weeks — with proper prep and gentle care.

Bathing a Toy Poodle is not just about getting clean — it’s a full grooming ritual.

To protect the coat and keep your puppy comfortable, the steps before and after the bath matter just as much as the bath itself.

Before the Bath

1. Brush the Coat Thoroughly

A poodle should never be bathed with tangles or mats.

Water tightens knots and makes them worse, not better.

  • Brush the entire coat with a slicker brush

  • Follow with a metal comb to check for hidden tangles

  • Make sure the coat is completely smooth before bathing

This keeps the coat healthy, fluffy, and easy to maintain.

2. Clean the Eyes

  • Use the eye drops we recommend (shown in our gallery)

  • Gently wipe the area to prevent staining and irritation

  • This also helps puppies get used to calm handling around their face

3. Clean the Ears

  • Use the ear cleaner pictured in our gallery

  • Wipe gently — never push anything deep into the ears

During the Bath

1. Use Gentle Puppy Shampoo

  • Apply the shampoo we recommend (pictured in your gallery)

  • Massage gently and rinse extremely well

  • Leftover shampoo can irritate the skin

2. Conditioner Is a MUST

Poodle coats require moisture and protection.

  • Apply a quality conditioner (your recommended brand in the gallery)

  • Helps prevent tangles

  • Keeps the coat soft, silky, and healthy

  • Protects the hair shaft and reduces breakage

After the Bath

1. Optional: Leave‑In Conditioner Spray

Brands like Espree offer wonderful, lightly scented sprays that:

  • Keep the coat soft and shiny

  • Help prevent tangles between baths

  • Make your puppy smell amazing

  • Add a silky finish to the coat

2. Dry the Coat Completely

  • Towel dry gently

  • Finish with a low‑heat blow‑dryer

  • Brush lightly while drying to keep the coat smooth and fluffy

3. Trim the Nails

  • After the bath, nails are softer and easier to trim

  • Keep sessions short and positive

4. Check the Ears Again

  • Make sure no water entered the ear canal

  • Wipe gently if needed

5. Groom as You Like

  • Light face trim

  • Feet trim

  • Sanitary trim

  • Or a full puppy cut

Whatever you choose, keep it calm, gentle, and positive — always a spa moment, never stress. When families continue these gentle routines at home, their dogs grow up relaxed, confident, and happy to be groomed — for life.
